Are you thriving? Or just surviving?

Registered Nutritional Therapist

My name is Cath and I'm a Registered Nutritional Therapist, having studied at the College of Naturopathic Medicine. The aim of naturopathic nutrition is to identify and address the underlying root cause of a condition, rather than just masking symptoms.

I believe strongly in responsible practice to the highest standard. As such I am a registered member of the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners (ANP) and the General Naturopathic Council (GNC).

Prior to this I worked as an Occupational Therapist so have empathy and compassion, good communication and collaboration skills and am skilled at problem solving and grading/adapting recommendations to suit the individual.

What I can do for you

I was born in the middle east and moved to Switzerland as a young child. Later to the UK and eventually to Northern Ireland.

At the age of 8 I experienced burns to 63% of my body and spent many months in hospital. Treatment involved many operations and painful treatments that required daily anaesthetics and later strong sedation. This along with antibiotics and strong pain relief likely affected my immature organs, my gut health and in conjunction with the significant stress of the injury, set me up for bioaccumulation of heavy metals, digestive issues, psychological issues, immune and nervous system dysregulation with all the downstream consequences.

Mostly I battled through my various symptoms, often not really realising that not everyone feels unwell, sore and anxious all the time. Eventually in my 40's with perimenopausal changes happening I was no longer able to soldier on.

I had begun to be interested in and follow various nutrition and functional medicine social media sites and after a search found someone with a local postcode (although she turned out to be based in Brussels!) but to be honest working online suited my crippling anxiety at the time.

Having been unwell for nearly 40 years, complete recovery would take a while. but even with minor changes I was seeing signs of improvement after just a few weeks and by the end of 6 months working together I was a different person. We completed targeted testing to identify root causes and addressed these to finally fix the issues.

That was when I said to my nutritional therapist: "I want to do what you do!"

It took 3 years to retrain, whilst holding down a job (to pay the bills), I never could have done it without my health being much improved.

So here I am, letting you know that you don't need to feel unwell. Your body has an incredible ability to heal itself, but it needs the right conditions. Un- fortunately modern lifestyles and diet are not necessarily supportive of that process. Together we can change that!
